LPRA CHAIRMAN'S YEAR END LETTER JANUARY 2020

LPRA CHIARMANS MESSAGE MASTHEAD 2019

Dear LPRA Member,

2020 will be the LPRA’s 30th Anniversary, an achievement we are justly proud of and a milestone that has only been achieved thanks to the support of our members.

2019 has been another challenging year,  the prolonged uncertainty caused by the prospect of the UK’s exit from the EU and the escalating use of tariffs has contributed to the continued global environment of caution. These elements, combined with the aggressive global battle for precious radio spectrum make the LPRA’s role even more vital and we are proud to be maintaining our mission to protect the interests of our members.  Despite these difficulties our members continue to be at the forefront of innovation in our industry, through their creativity, resilience and adaptability, something which always makes me proud to see.

I would like to take this opportunity to again thank LPRA Member Nedap for their generous hosting and sponsorship of the Radio Solutions Conference and Networking event RS2019.  The feedback for the two day event from the post-conference survey was overwhelmingly positive : (Average overall score 8.8 out of 10. 96.87% of Delegates and Speakers would attend a future LPRA Conference :  Average score for RS2019 Speakers was 4.24 out of 5 : 31 Companies / Institutions were represented at RS2019 : 14 Speakers gave 15 Presentations). The Council and Secretariat are determined to build on the success of the past Radio Solution Conferences to make RS2021 an even better event for our members and to continue to raise the profile of the LPRA.

A very major part of our activities remains the policy/advocacy and standards work that we do within the EC, CEPT and ETSI to ensure that the interests of our members and the SRD industry are properly represented. Members of the LPRA council remain in senior positions in the relevant Technical Committees and Task Groups within ETSI as well as attending many of the important meetings in CEPT.

Once again I should like to thank members of the Council and Secretariat for all of their hard work over the past year. The activities of Council Members are entirely voluntary so I should like to say how much I appreciate their efforts.

The LPRA Council and Secretariat are all committed to working together to strengthen the Association and continue to protect the interests of our members.

Finally on behalf of the LPRA Council and Secretariat I would like to wish you a very Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays and a safe and successful New Year.

Yours faithfully

Dr. Saad Mezzour
