EN 302 208 (UHF RFID) APPROVED FOR ENAP BALLOT

The mandatory EC review for harmonised standards introduced in early 2019 and late requests for the introduction of new test methods has added a complete year to the timeline of many standards maintained by ESOs (European Standardisation Organisations) including ETSI and has affected EN 302 208 (Radio Frequency Identification Equipment operating in the band 865 MHz to 868 MHz with power levels up to 2 W and in the band 915 MHz to 921 MHz with power levels up to 4 W; Harmonised Standard for access to radio spectrum). EN 302 208 is, however, now back on track for ENAP ballot (originally planned a year ago) in the near future. Addressing the newly mandated receiver parameters set out I the ETSI Guide (EG 203 336) several new tests have been added; among others these are: Receiver radio-frequency intermodulation immunity and Receiver sensitivity. The latter required the introduction of interrogator categories based on transmit power with differing reader sensitivity limits.

We will of course keep you fully informed of developments.
