This sector focuses on all aspects of building automation, including energy management and building controls as well as the emerging market for remote metering systems.
Typical applications include blind/awning controllers, lighting and HVAC controllers and remote reading utility meters.

Low power radio is used extensively in building security and alarm systems for signalling, control and detection functions.
Familiar applications include wireless intruder alarm sensors, microwave Doppler detectors and CCTV PTZ controllers.

 

Alarms in ERC REC 70.03 Annex 7

Dear LPRA member,

In CEPT work group SE24, there is a study on improving the spectrum efficiency use of the 863 to 870MHz band.
Within this wide study, there is an item concerning alarms in ERC REC 70.03 Annex 7. This study concerns the potential loss of exclusivity for alarms for certain sub-bands in Annex 7.

EU concerned about low level of compliance with R&TTE Directive

The European Commission arranged a meeting of Market Surveillance Authorities (MSA’s) on 11th September 2007. The meeting, at OFCOM headquarters, was arranged to discuss the low level of compliance with the requirements of the R&TTE Directive that a market surveillance campaign undertaken by the MSA’s in 2005/2006 had identified.

On the 11th September a meeting was held between the LPRA and OFCOM enabling the LPRA to maintain our current relationship and gain insight into the latest position that OFCOM is taking in relation to a number of SRD trends.
